Patient Case Studies & Testimonials

“We both were getting married January 8th, 2011 and thought what better time to perfect our smiles. We decided on Invisalign as an excellent solution (its removable!). I (Josh) also had some bridge work removed on my front teeth and replaced with veneers- MUCH BETTER! They look much more natural. THANKS FOR PERFECTING OUR SMILES!”
— Joshua and Jennifer from Bridgewater
About This Case – Comments from the Treating Doctor
Josh had Britesmile In-office professional whitening to achieve his natural whitest shade, and an old bridge on the front upper teeth was replaced with a new one that made the smile look more natural. The last step was a short course of Invisalign just to even out the crowded teeth and finalize a great aesthetic result. Jennifer also had teeth crowding which was caused by narrow arches. She had orthodontic treatment when she was younger, but because the arches weren’t expanded enough, she had relapse (teeth shifted back toward their old position) and required Invisalign treatment to correct the problem.

“I had headaches, tension in the jaw, tooth pain from grinding and pressure in the jaw. The procedures that Dr. Ronkin performed, helped alleviate my headaches Because my bite has been adjusted, there’s hardly any pressure in my ears and jaw.
They took away my headaches. I wake up in the morning and feel much better. I feel more alert and refreshed because I’ve had a good night’s rest, where as before I had the headaches. They are a phenomenal group and if you have something similar to my case, don’t discount that it may be dental. Before I came to dream smile I had a hard time smiling or being around people who had beautiful teeth and now I feel more confident and I love to smile.
The staff are unbelievable, they’re very accommodating. When I come here I feel like I’m at a spa. You walk in here, you feel great… have a cappuccino…watch a movie..it’s great!”
About This Case – Comments from the Treating Doctor
A full neuromuscular mock up was done to determine the ideal position of the lower jaw and alleviate symptoms of an unbalanced bite. Symptoms included ringing in the ears, headaches, tooth sensitivity and jaw pressure. Once the relationship between the upper and lower jaws was stabilized and the symptoms were alleviated, crowns were placed on all teeth to restore teeth height and create a beautiful and functioning smile. The neuromuscular treatment significantly improved this patient’s symptoms.

“Ron Pegguri of Weymouth works as an electrician at Gillette. For years, his migraines affected his work and leisure, often causing nausea. “The dentist cured my headaches! What do headaches have to do with teeth? Over the years, my teeth had worn down from normal use and from grinding in my sleep, causing misalignment of my jaw. That caused TMJ, resulting in incredible migraines and jaw soreness. My teeth were chipping and getting thin. Dr. Shwartzman used an electronic pulsed muscle relaxer and made precise measurements to see how my teeth should properly close. Within a day of getting my new crowns, I was freed from the daily pain. In addition, people say I look younger. And I smile more. Dream Smile provided modern dentistry with old-fashioned patient care. It really wasn’t like going to the dentist.”

“Before I started working for Dr Shwartzman, I had been seeing a physical therapist two to three times a week for severe right shoulder pain, which sometimes would be so bad, that my arm & fingers would go totally numb. I had seen many doctors, had an MRI, and radiographs; yet no one could figure out what the problem was. One night, Dr Shwartzman explained to me that my problem didn’t stem from my shoulder, but rather from my TMJ and because my bite was so out of alignment, it was causing the discomfort in my shoulder. Although I had been educated on the correlations between the mouth and overall systemic health, I was reluctant to believe it when I was the patient.
Dr. Shwartzman made me a device, called a non-removable orthotic. The pain I had been dealing with for the past SIX YEARS was eliminated after the first day of wearing it. I was blown away!! I couldn’t believe it!! I told my physical therapist, who was ecstatic and notified my physician (who, amazingly, didn’t believe I was actually cured!) After a series of scans and adjustments (which spanned over a years’ time), and restorative work to align my bite into it’s appropriate place, not only am I pain free, but I cannot thank Dr Shwartzman for the amazing aesthetic results! You can look in my mouth & just see her passion & care show through for what she does. Had it not been for Dr. Shwartzman, I can honestly say I don’t know where I would be presently, as the pain was getting worse by the day. I cannot thank Dr. Shwartzman enough. I have to say that I LOVE smiling now, and look for any reason to do so.”

Tatiana Larina, a 26 year old Russian flute player was concerned with her smile especially when performing on stage in front of a full audience. She longed for the smile that Hollywood actors show off on the red carpet.
”I knew I wanted to go through with the Invisalign treatment, but was concerned with it getting in the way of my flute playing. Dr. Ronkin assured me that it would not interfere and showed me the thin plastic aligner I would be wearing. I was eager to proceed with treatment once I saw that on my teeth, it’s really invisible!”

Invisalign was performed to solve the issue of crowded teeth. Britesmile In-Office professional teeth whitening was used to brighten up the smile and give a cosmetic result.

“I began my journey to better oral health and a much improved smile 2 years ago. It was a BIG step for me because I feared the dentist office and was wracked with anxiety. The entire Dream Smile office staff and doctors were so understanding and empathetic to my fears. I was provided sedation dentistry my first visit, but did not need it for any of the other treatments solely due to how at ease the staff put me.
My new smile is something that has also had a very positive impact on my professional career as well. I work for a major financial institution in Boston as a vice president and first impressions are very important when establishing relationships and gaining an initial respect. A great smile adds confidence too! I am constantly receiving comments about my nice smile. I work hard to maintain a muscular body and now feel my smile complexes the look.”

Sedation dentistry was the ideal option for this patient due to dental anxiety. Crowns, veneers and onlays were used to change the shape, size and color of the patient’s smile. The patient was also diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea. A neuromuscular evaluation was performed in order to pinpoint the exact position of the jaw at which the patient’s airway was most open. A nighttime appliance called the Somnodent was made to fit that exact position so when the patient goes to sleep, he can insert the appliance and sleep with the airway expanded to the normal width in order to get more oxygen to the brain and heart as well as enjoy a well rested sleep. Now, the patient no longer requires sedation for dental work. His dental anxiety has been significantly mitigated and we’re happy to see him consistently for his regular check-ups.

“I had no reservation what so ever. I was confident enough that my expectations would be met because of my positive experience with Dr. Ronkin. Honestly, when I first sat with Dr. Ronkin, my one and only fear was if it was going to be all worth it.
I would definitely recommend Dream Smile to others. I have told many of my friends and continue to tell people about the amazing job that you guys do.
I am so happy! It’s hard to believe the difference that a confident smile can make in the way that one interacts with others.Just yesterday, I remembered stopping for a second to talk with a friend at the gym and when I smiled, my fist instinct was to cover my teeth with my hands like I used to do before. I instantly remembered that I don’t have the same smile as I used to. Dr. Ronkin and his staff have changed my smile and turned me into a more confident individual. When I smile now, people look at my teeth and give me compliments.
It’s amazing how much a little bit of my savings and a great dentist like Dr. Ronkin and his staff can do to change your life. Thank you for everything! You guys are the best!”

Invisalign treatment was used to straighten crowded teeth. One veneer and one crown was placed on the front teeth.

“I am very thankful to Dr. Shwartzman for the beautiful smile she has given me. She has helped to change many aspects of my life. I am able to smile with confidence and I am no longer suffering with headaches, back, neck and jaw pain. I had tried everything over the years to alleviate the pain and discomfort I was suffering from. I did conventional braces at thirty five years old thinking that would correct some of the issues. The braces did straighten what needed to be straightened but, I was still having pain. I knew the treatment I needed was to have neuromuscular dentistry and full mouth reconstruction. I have watched many patients complete this treatment over the years and they have all had great success. The time came for me and I talked to Dr. Shwartzman about the treatment. She did not hesitate to get started. My treatment was completed beyond my expectations and it is truly the best thing I have ever done for myself.”
